Outdoors Program

snowboardingMission Statement:  Youth for Change Outdoors Program aims to engage behaviorally challenged youth in a safe and structured, outdoor environment, allowing the youth to choose the degree to which they are challenged.  Through this process the youth will learn about themselves, their immediate surroundings, environmental stewardship, teamwork, and their own ability to make safe, responsible decisions independently, and in a group setting.

The Outdoors program works with a variety of youth and families ranging from residential youth, foster youth, adopted youth and others from the community through a number of in house programs as well as grant funded programs for the community.

"You helped me conquer my biggest fear, which is speaking in front of people. I thank you for that. I loved the camping and the white water rafting. I hope you don't stop for years to come because when I come back next year I want to volunteer and turn something I love into a job." - Participant

"Thank you so much for the fun time of rock climbing! We appreciate the work all of you put into making it such a great day and would gladly attend another activity like it. It was a nice opportunity to get together with my daughter's bio grandma on neutral ground, she appreciated being included. Activities like this are really helpful for adoptive families!" - Parent
