Foster Care Services

foster mom and kid Youth for Change strives to provide a supportive, encouraging family-like environment.

We offer family support programs that focus on reunifying families.

We are dedicated to maintain high standards by employing professional, experienced staff; staff that provides enhanced support services for foster parents.

Choose Your Path...

Traditional Foster Care Parent
As a traditional foster care parent, you will provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for youth aged 0-18 (or up to age 21 for AB12 extended foster care) in need of a stable home. Many youth are placed in foster homes while their parents work toward reunifying with them, while other youth require long term foster care. Foster parents are provided ongoing support and training.

Intensive Support Foster Care (ISFC)
As an ISFC foster parent, you will be actively involved in the intensive therapeutic treatment of a foster youth aged 3-18. Up to two foster youth will be placed in your home for a short term (average 6-12 months). You will be trained and certified to work with the treatment team to implement a structured behavior modification program. You will be provided with ongoing support and training.

Transitional Housing Host Parent and Mentor
As a Host Parent, you will provide housing and support to a teen or young adult who is transitioning from foster care to adulthood. Host parents rent a room to the teen or young adult while they receive monitoring and support from their social work team.

Another way to make a difference is by becoming a mentor. As a Mentor, your role will be to provide additional adult support to the teen or young adult and become part of their support system.

As a foster parent you can also choose to adopt a child or teen who is unable to reunify with his/her family. If you are looking to become a parent and make a difference, the Fost/Adopt program is a great way to get involved. Although, Youth for Change is not an adoption agency, Foster Care Services recruits, certifies and trains foster parents who have the specific goal of building their family through adoption. The Fost/Adopt program is done in partnership with local adoption agencies.
