Medication & Psychiatric Support Services
What is the Medication Support Program?
Our psychiatrists and staff provide psychiatric care and medication support services for clients participating in one of our Youth For Change Behavioral Health Programs in Butte or Sutter-Yuba County. Both telepsychiatry and in-person options are available.
Who is eligible?
The Medication Support Program serves youth 18 or younger with full scope Medi-Cal referred by a Youth for Change clinician.
How long do I stay in the Medication Support Program?
The Medication Support Program can assist you while you are participating in a Youth for Change Behavioral Health Program.
When you have met your goals and are ready to transition out of services with Youth For Change the Medication Support Staff will assist you with transferring any medication support services you may continue to need.
How Does it Work?
You will be offered an evaluation for the need and benefit of medication. A psychiatrist will meet with you to review your symptoms to determine if medication may be an option for you to include in your treatment. Medication support services include prescribing and monitoring the effects of psychiatric medications, providing consultation and information about the risks, benefits for medications as well as any alternatives. Medication support staff work with your caregivers, primary care doctor, and Youth for Change clinician to assist you in meeting your goals.
Medication Support will:
Provide an assessment to evaluate the need for medication
Provide continued monitoring of the effectiveness of your medication
Work with your treatment team to help you reach your goals
Support you with information on the risks and benefits of medication management
