Strong Starts
Strong Starts provides Specialty Mental Health Services in the environment that is most comfortable to the client and/or family: a school, community, home, or office setting.
How does it work?
You will meet with a specially trained clinician to collect information on how you have been feeling and the services you may need to overcome challenges in your life. Based on this assessment, you will create an individualized treatment plan with your clinician to identify your goals. Based on the completion of these goals, you and your clinician will determine when services should increase, decrease, or end.
Who is eligible? What are the benefits?
Strong Starts serves youth up to age 21 with full scope Butte County Medi-Cal.
Services are provided to help reduce the feelings and behaviors that make it challenging at home, with friends, or at school.
Strong Starts will…
Teach you skills to cope with stressful situations or overwhelming feelings
Help you improve your communication and relationships
Help you to have better focus, fun, and participation in school
Teach you to become more social and interact more positively with peers
Strong Starts uses evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist young people with managing challenging emotions.
Strong Starts also provides Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). PCIT helps to improve the child and caregiver relationship by building attachment and coaching caregivers to respond consistently and predictably to the child’s needs and behaviors.
Services are based on your preferences to participate. We are here to help you meet your treatment goals.
