School Based Counseling (SBC)
SBC provides Specialty Mental Health Services to students referred by Paradise Unified School District.
How does it work?
The school will refer you to Youth For Change where you will meet with a specially trained clinician to collect information on how you have been feeling and the services you may need to overcome challenges in your life. Based on this assessment, you will create an individualized treatment plan with your clinician to identify your goals. You will meet with your clinician for individual, group and/or family services. Based on the completion of these goals, you and your clinician will determine when services should increase, decrease, or end.
Who is eligible? What is the benefit?
Youth with full scope Butte County Medi-Cal can participate in services. Services are provided to help reduce the feelings and behaviors that make it challenging for you at home, with your friends, or at school.
SBC will…
Teach you ways to cope with stressful situations or overwhelming feelings
Teach you to communicate and express feelings
Teach you to have better focus, fun and participation in school
Help you become more social and interact more positively with peers
SBC uses evidence-based practices such as: Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist young people with managing challenging emotions.
Services are based on your preferences to participate. We are here to help you meet your treatment goals.
